Unlocking AI for Educators
How AI can transform education by personalizing learning, streamlining tasks, and fostering inclusivity?
A few weeks ago, we partnered with Teach For India's online teacher education platform, Firki, to host an engaging webinar titled "Unlocking AI for School Leaders and Mentors" Designed to explore the practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) for educators, this 90-minute session offered valuable insights into using AI tools effectively in the field of education.
The session was built around three key Bloom’s verbs—Understanding, Application, and Analysis—to ensure participants walked away with both foundational knowledge and actionable skills. Here's a quick overview:
1. Understanding AI
We kicked things off with a primer on artificial intelligence, exploring what AI is and how it has evolved in recent years. Participants gained a clear understanding of Generative vs. Discriminative AI systems, along with practical examples.
The focus shifted to Generative AI, discussing how it creates new content such as text, images, and audio, setting the stage for practical exploration.
2. Working with AI
This hands-on segment encouraged participants to actively explore AI tools and write prompts that can be applied across various educational tasks.
Here’s what educators learned:
Lesson Planning Made Simple: Attendees used ChatGPT to generate tailored lesson plans by providing clear instructions and context. This allowed them to create structured plans with objectives, activities, and assessments in minutes.
Creating Engaging Content: We showcased tools like Pulse, which enables educators to transform multimedia content into interactive quizzes that track student engagement and learning outcomes.
Customizing Assessments: Participants explored generating quizzes and assessments aligned with their own educational materials and curriculum, enabling more relevant and personalized evaluations.
Data-Driven Teaching: AI tools for analyzing student performance data were demonstrated, helping educators track engagement and make informed decisions to improve teaching strategies.
3. More ways of using AI
The final segment featured additional examples and demos, showcasing AI-powered tools that can simplify educators’ day-to-day tasks—from grading and administrative work to creating personalized student experiences.
